Need help with steel cable and wire connectors?
Hey there ! my son is and i are build a wrestling ring for him as a 18th birthday present and need help with the ropes. The ropes are made of 8mm steel cable with rope wrapped tighly around it . The wire is just one solid bit and we connect both ends of the wire by making a loop at each end putting a wire connector on th end of the loops and loops on end inside the other and wire connect both ends so they hopefully dont come apart but after about 10 mins of use the top rope came apart can some please help or have any other ideas

OK... I am a former contractor,rigger,welder,ironworker etc!!! AND A FORMER BOXER.. YOU "NEVER' would use wire, cable or any other metal in a boxing ring rope... the ART , is rope weaving. In a boxing ring the rope is REAL ROPE!!!! connected in the corners by turnbuckles.. and covered with a soft cloth "tube" to prevent the fighters from getting rope burn... the hardest thing to find is a person who knows how to "braid" or "weave" the rope... a very rapidly DYING ART!!

What is a Cable Gland?
Cable Glands are circular mechanical cable entry devices that seal electrical cable entering an enclosure, motor, pump or generator. Cable Glands are the universal replacement for more expensive condulet and are used internationally.
Cable Glands come in a variety of materials that offer different benefits depending on the cable and the electrical equipment used. Some of the most common materials used are: brass, stainless steel, cooper, nickel plated, glass reinforced polyester and often times a combination of two.
Choosing the right Cable Gland depends on the type of cable used and the diameter of that cable. Common questions when selecting a Cable Gland are: What material cable gland is required for this project? Is there a Hazardous Area rating? Do the Cable Glands need to be certified in CSA, ATEX, or both? What type of thread is needed on the male end of the gland?
The type of seal on the Cable Gland is also evaluated when selecting the right gland. There are five different types of sealing method used that directly affect the cable inner bedding seal. These are: Compression Seal, Displacement Seal, Diaphragm Seal, Compensating Displacement Seal (CDS) System and Compound Barrier Seal. The difference between these is the application of the seal ring on the cable.

- Provide a holding force to limit pull out resistance
- In Hazardous areas- maintain a level of protection on the attached equipment
