Can anyone grant a blessing, or does the person have to hold some special "rank" or privilege (details)?
For example:
I was working as a cop once in South Florida. An elderly man reported a burglary to his car and I took the report. In our discussion, I noticed he was a member of the Masonic lodge from his ring. I mentioned my father was a 32nd degree Mason and president of his lodge when he passed away in 1971. So, the man told me he was also a 32nd degree Mason, placed his hand on mine, said a few words I didn't understand, and stated he had just given me a blessing for safety in my law enforcement work. He said because of his rank in the Masonic lodge, he was "permitted" to grant such blessings.
This left me with an unusual question: Do you think it takes some sort of rank, or can anyone bless anyone else? Would it have the same meaning or worth?
Whatever worth or meaning you ascribe to the blessing this man gave you depends entirely on whether you believe in the rules of the order to which that person belonged. If under Masonic rules this person could give blessings and you believe those rules are true, then his blessing was valid and real and extra-worthy for having come from him versus anyone else.
But even if you don't think he has any special credentials to give blessings, it is still worthwhile that he said kind words or a prayer about you. Any person can pray for another and that is very worthwhile and meaningful.

Men's Masonic Ring... Need Help!?
I am looking to purchase a ring for my boyfriend who (upon election) will be installed as Master of his Lodge in December. I am on the hunt for a sterling sliver/stainless steel/white gold ring with a ruby inlay that only has the square and compass on the top. He does not want the typical ring with the G in the middle of the square and compass. I have been doing some searching but have not found anything.
Does anyone know of any websites that I could find one on? Or even a good masonic jeweler that does good custom work for a reasonable price?
